The Australian Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty Sydney 2015

The Australian Ballet performed David McAllister’s production of The Sleeping Beauty at the end of 2015.  I attended a Sydney performance in December held at the Opera House.

The production was filled with glamour and an extravagant set and costumes.  This matched the richness of the Tchaikovsky score and fairy tale story line.

The performers danced well and stand out was Benedicte Bement as Florine in her wonderful pas de deux. The corps was well rehearsed.

Despite the smaller stage the production sat nicely on stage using the depth to create space.

Reviews seem all positive for McAlliser’s debut and I loved it.
