The beauty of ballet on World Ballet Day 2015

World Ballet Day was held on 1st October 2015, and via a live stream gave us 24 hours on behind the scenes footage of 5 world leading ballet companies; The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet.

I love watching the ballet; the beauty, the connection between music, the mind, emotion and body of the dancer and the air of ethereal energy.

When we watch a ballet we are seeing everyone at their professional peak at that point in time; the composer, the choreographer, the conductor and musicians, the dancers, the directors and production staff.  They all come together and create a most powerful energy.

We know within ourselves what it feels like to excel in a moment; its a buzz, an excitement, a sense of accomplishment a vibrancy (note lots of energy words).

So when I see a ballet, or even a single dancer, especially at a high professional level, I try and tune into this radiancy; and it’s beautiful.

Throw in youth, athleticism, pretty costumes and a romantic story line and I think ballet can be very special.
